Charlottesville Pathology Associates is affiliated with Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, VA. CPA provides professional pathology services and directorship to Martha Jefferson Hospital's clinical and anatomic pathology laboratory.

Lab Organization

The Martha Jefferson Laboratory is organized to assure that the laboratory is managed with care, experience, and attention. The pathologists of Charlottesville Pathology Associates work closely with the lab management to make certain that the laboratory is staffed with the most qualified technicians and that the processes are the most efficient and effective. Martha Jefferson Cytology Staff

The cytopathology lab contains American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certified Cytotechcologists with over 80+ years of combined experience and education.

Ann Lersch-CT,SCT(ASCP) SECTION LEADER

• Trained/Certified from University Health Center of Pittsburgh School of Cytotechnology
• BS in Biology from University of Pittsburgh
• 27+ yrs of experience as a Cytotechnologist

Richard Pence- CT, MT (ASCP)

• Trained/Certified from Old Dominion University College of Health Sciences, School of Medical Laboratory and Radiation Sciences
• BS in General Social Science, Minor in Biology from James Madison University
• 3+ yrs of experience as a Cytotechnologist
• 23 yrs experience as a Med Tech

Brenda Greer- CT (ASCP)

• Trained/ Certified from UVA

Bonnie Davis-CT (ASCP)

Martha Jefferson Histology Staff

The surgical pathology section of the laboratory is staffed with histotechnologists having a combined 80 + years of experience.

Pathologists' Assistant

Charlottesville Pathology Associates added a Pathologists' Assistant to the group in May 2007. Phon Watana provides technical assistance in anatomic pathology. Phon received her undergraduate degree from UVA and her Masters in Health Science from the Pathologists' Assistant Program at Duke University. She joined CPA with 2 ½ years experience as a PA at UVA. Phon complements CPA's commitment to providing the highest quality of diagnostic services for clinical doctor's and their patients.
